Public safety agencies face complex challenges that demand thoughtful solutions. These are innovations that not only introduce new technology but also consider the impact on staff and the communities they serve. The Versaterm Innovation Award recognizes agencies that are applying new ideas in practical, meaningful ways. Whether the change is incremental or transformative, this award highlights work that makes a real difference. It’s an opportunity to share what’s working for you, learn from your peers and be acknowledged for the commitment behind progress that serves both your agency and the public.
About the Award
The Versaterm Innovation Award recognizes our clients who use any Versaterm solution(s) from our platform (and related technology) to help solve problems, resulting in better outcomes for their organization and respective communities.
The winners will be announced in April. The in-person award presentations are typically on the second day of the Versaterm Users Conference. This keynote session provides the opportunity to hear more about the winning projects. The timing also allows for onsite meetings at the conference, because we believe the opportunity to hear directly from those involved offers more value to you, our Versaterm customers.
Submissions for the 2025 Versaterm Innovation Award are now closed. They will reopen on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Award Overview
The Versaterm Innovation Award recognizes public safety agencies, forensic labs, court systems, prosecutor offices, schools and others that use Versaterm solutions (and related technology) to help solve their problems that result in better outcomes for their organization and respective communities.
Versaterm is looking for INNOVATION, or finding creative, new and unique ways to do something! This award is meant to showcase successes in your organization, and to elevate the work that you do.
Your successes should be celebrated and emulated. As we are all partners, sharing your knowledge with your industry peers makes us all stronger.
Purpose of the contest

Raise awareness that sharing best practices and training is the purpose of the award and conference

Showcase innovative measures taken in public safety organizations, forensic labs, court systems, prosecutor offices, schools and others that use Versaterm solutions
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the Versaterm Innovation Award, your organization must be using at least one Versaterm solution. In addition to Versaterm CAD/RMS, this list below highlights some of the other eligible solutions but is not exhaustive.
In addition, your organization must have used Versaterm’s solutions (and perhaps technology from other suppliers) to solve a problem faced by your group.
Submission Rules & Instructions
Submission Form & Method
Participating organizations must complete the submission form fields listed on the application which outlines information about the project, or the submission will not be processed. Please submit your entry via our online form.
You may either enter the information directly into all the fields or upload the Word document. Versaterm will acknowledge your submission once received.
Submission Length
Submissions should be approximately 500 words per section, with up to five supporting materials (screenshots, graphics, etc.) in addition to the text fields. However, the written portion should be a maximum of four pages.
Submission Life Cycle
Submissions remain valid only for the year in which the submission is received. However, the same project may be resubmitted the following year, if it did not receive an award the previous year. It is the responsibility of the agency to re-submit.
Evaluation of Award Submissions
Submissions will be evaluated by the content of the forms. A small panel of agency-neutral evaluators will review all submissions. The decision of the evaluators will be final. Please refer to the Important Dates section above for the date winners are expected to be announced. The announcement of the winners will allow Versaterm to schedule them in the next annual Versaterm Users Conference and will allow the winners to plan their attendance for the workshop.
Points will be given based on the results, the WOW factor, and the effectiveness of the solution, rather than the sophistication of the solution. Solutions that primarily use Versaterm ecosystem applications may get extra points. Points will also be awarded based on the magnitude of the project or the number of people impacted, and to projects that discuss the measurement of success.
Permission to Post
The Versaterm Innovation Award is built on the importance of sharing what was learned. The company reserves the right to make the information from contest submissions accessible to Versaterm clients upon request. For winning entries, Versaterm will publish your agency name, location and project name with solution(s) used on the awards website and announce winners on social media without solution names. All other materials and information will remain private and will not be shared publicly without prior consent.

2026 Prizes
1st Prize
- All expenses paid by Versaterm, for two people to attend the annual Versaterm Users Conference, which includes their registrations, flights, hotel and food allowances
- A plaque will be presented to the organization or individual recognizing the benefits to public safety and the community
- The organization will be given a time slot in the agenda of the next annual Versaterm Users Conference to provide a presentation showcasing their accomplishment
2nd Prize
- Registration costs paid by Versaterm, for two people to attend the annual Versaterm Users Conference
- The organization will be given a time slot in the agenda of the next annual Versaterm Users Conference to provide a presentation showcasing their accomplishment
3rd Prize
- Registration costs paid by Versaterm, for one person to attend the annual Versaterm Users Conference
- The organization will be given a time slot in the agenda of the next annual Versaterm Users Conference to provide a presentation showcasing their accomplishment
Note
The prizes are awarded to the organization, and therefore, the organization shall determine who will attend the annual Versaterm Users Conference and who will present the project. Other arrangements can be made if you are unable to attend.

This is an international contest. Submitting a winning entry is an achievement worth celebrating. It shows that your organization is creative in how you use technology to become more effective and efficient for driving better outcomes and safer communities.
