Congratulations to the Government of Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Consortium on recently going live with Versaterm Records Management System (RMS). This ambitious multi-jurisdictional project makes the Government of Saskatchewan the first institution to implement a public safety RMS system for non-traditional police law enforcement agencies.
The Government of Saskatchewan Law Enforcement Consortium is a collaborative multi-jurisdictional initiative that integrates various provincial ministries and agencies to enhance law enforcement capabilities across Saskatchewan. Participating ministries include Environment, Highways and Infrastructure, Finance, Justice and Government Relations. The public safety agency provides integrated, technology-enabled collaboration among multiple provincial enforcement agencies to enhance public safety, resource sharing and crime prevention across Saskatchewan’s diverse and widespread jurisdictions.
Versaterm’s record management system enables real-time sharing of information among partner agencies, which strengthens cooperation, saves time and improves their ability to detect and prevent crime across a vast area covering 400,000 square miles and 300 officers. The Consortium’s implementation is supported by the Provincial Records and Information System Management (PRISM) team and interfaces with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency’s dispatch system for efficient call and query management.
The Consortium is part of a broader provincial approach to law enforcement that includes Provincial Protective Services, which consolidates various enforcement teams such as Conservation Officers, Highway Patrol, Court Security, Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) and Community Safety Officers. This structure aims to protect people, infrastructure and natural resources while enabling better coordination with municipal police and the RCMP.
The resulting integration and sharing of information will build stronger bonds and working relationships between the partner agencies. Each agency owns their own data and can determine level of access while they share the master indices so when querying a record, for example, a synopsis of involvements will display all involvements, across tenants and jurisdictions. The value and power of sharing the same modern Versaterm RMS provides all agencies with immediate access to each other’s information, saving time and expediting their ability to work collaboratively to detect and prevent crime.
The enterprise-level system also conforms to all aspects of the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) including conforming to CPIC security requirements and typically exceeding CPIC integration requirements.
Special thanks to PRISM implementation team for their hard work implementing a system that includes interfaces to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency I/CAD for transferring calls and Versaterm RMS queries.
Congratulations and welcome to the Versaterm family.
