Our Finance team is growing. We're looking for a motivated and energetic Corporate Controller to lead our day-to-day accounting function on a full-time basis. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced finance professional to further develop their finance skills and grow within a growing, locally based software firm.


As Corporate Controller, you will lead the major accounting and reporting functions in our fast-growing company will be responsible for many aspects of general ledger related activities including ensuring the proper application of US GAAP to complex business transactions, the financial close process, and balance sheet account reconciliations. This position requires you to work with multiple entities and cross-functional departments to correctly record various accounting activities. Ideally, you will have a strong technical accounting background and experience effectively leading and developing accounting organizations. You will support the build-out of the accounting department from a people, processes, and systems perspective. You will also interact with our external auditors for annual audits.   • Manage all general accounting functions including cash, A/R, fixed assets, intangibles, A/P, deferred revenue, procurement, revenue accounting specifically ASC606, payroll and equity accounting.

  • Apply appropriate accounting practices to GL entries and transactions, maintaining robust accounting records, policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Design, document and continuously improve financial controls, processes and procedures to manage a complex multi-entity structure and consolidation of multinational subsidiaries.

  • Apply knowledge of US GAAP to monitor, research, evaluate impact and prepare technical memos on complex accounting issues, new accounting pronouncements and implementation of new standards to meet disclosure and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies, including review of account reconciliations and completion of key control activities.

  • Prepare/review monthly balance sheet and income statement flux variance analyses for management reporting.

  • Create and distribute monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements to internal and external stakeholders including materials for review by the Board of Directors.

  • Serve as key partner in the annual budgeting and planning processes, including preparation of budgets, forecasts, and ad-hoc updates while maintaining the Company’s financial model.

  • Manage the treasury function including weekly/monthly cashflow and liquidity forecasts, monitoring multi-entity bank accounts to ensure adequate cash balances to support needs; approve wire transfers; reconcile bank accounts, provide cash activity summary to management; all journal entries surrounding cash.

  • Interface with investors, bankers, insurance carriers, tax preparers and external auditors when needed, responding to financial reporting requests on a timely basis.

  • Assist in the integration of new assets/acquisitions into the consolidated accounting and reporting process.

  • Manage the financial audit process, including preparation of materials for the financial statement audit, serve as key liaison with the external auditors, and monitor and resolve issues promptly.

  • Oversee tax compliance and coordinate tax returns, tax studies, as needed, and tax provision with external tax advisor. Manage and comply with sales tax, provincial, state, and federal reporting requirements (e.g. multi-province/state sales tax returns, etc.)

  • Plan, hire, manage, mentor, lead and promote a fast-growing high-performing accounting team, providing coaching and direction to team members on performance management and talent development.

  • Other ad-hoc duties as requested.



  • Degree in accounting, commerce, business administration or a related field is required.

  • Active CPA, 10+ years of progressive financial leadership role with at least 3+ years in a Controller-level role.

  • Manager-level experience at a Big 4 accounting or nationally recognized accounting firm preferred.

  • Strong technical, research, problem solving and collaboration skills, including strong knowledge of US GAAP,  including ASC606 Revenue Recognition, merging accounting issues and internal control principles.

  • Familiarity with accounting for high growth SaaS/software companies.

  • Experience with M&A transactions, multi-currency and multi-entity consolidation strongly desired.

  • Strong cloud-based ERP systems experience, preferably with Sage Intacct, as well as M&A migration/integration from other systems (e.g. QuickBooks)

  • Experience in leading a company’s interactions with external auditors.

  • Well-organized, self-directed team player; open to others’ ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things, has a resourceful mindset, and strong problem-solving aptitude.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel spreadsheet and Word processing programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
