MOBILE WORKSTATION
Mobile Workstation support is almost a mandatory feature of any modern CAD installation today, and Versadex has a long history of delivering evolving mobile capability. Most Versadex customers today utilize our Mobile Workstation (MWS) which is composed of two integrated software components, the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) which fulfils the traditional MDT functions and the Mobile Report Entry (MRE) or Field Reporting component, to deliver the 'office in the car' capability that is so valued today. Both software products present a consistent interface (e.g., key assignments, buttons, color, layout, etc.) for ease of training and use. Both components reside on a typical Notebook PC mounted in the vehicles.
The MDT component is tied through the selected wireless data network used by your agency. The MRE component can also operate off line in disconnected mode (at the scene, in a restaurant, at the jail, etc.). Integration allows information received by the MDT component (the dispatch, any messages, responses from state and national data bases, responses from the RMS, etc.) to easily be incorporated into the offense report, saving keystrokes and avoiding errors.
Together, the integrated MWS product allows Versaterm customers to operate in a near paperless environment, with electronic routing and notification and with near real-time information access throughout the department. More than anything else in the system, that instant access to complete and timely information, without paper handling and entry delays, accounts for the substantial improvements in productivity that our clients enjoy.
